Edited in November 2021, this wonderful novel is the fifth in the Stella Bled series.
Paris 1940
The Reich is moving in and Stella Bled Lawrence can’t get out.
Stella has proved adept at the double agent game, too adept as it turns out. The British want her to stay where she is, even though she’s about to be trapped, and worse, the Nazis want to expand her work into [sic] a distressing direction.
When two Nazi agents go rogue, Stella is at the right place at the wrong time. She ends up on the worst mission possible and her Nazi handler Villemain demands success or else.
Stella thinks she can use this new mission to get herself and her poodle, Bijou, out of Paris. It isn’t the best place to be between food shortages, roaming packs of abandoned dogs, and desperate people with the Wehrmacht marching ever closer.
One problem leads to another and Stella’s assigned to work on the Reich’s plan for theft on a grand scale with sidelines into documenting Jewish art and apartments. Everyone wants something and Stella thinks she has nothing left to give until she realizes her wretched assignments might be used to help the people she cares about instead of hurting them. It’s a huge gamble, but she’s willing to take it.
Once she’s on the job, her expertise in art gets noticed and delivers an opportunity that the British never thought they’d have. The ultimate sacrifice is always on the table and Stella will have to make a devastating choice. People won’t survive. The question is…will Stella?

Edited in October 2021, this is the seventh and the Mark Noble series of space adventures.
Two books in one volume
Cybernetic Tyrant
Mark and the team have returned from deep space and discover that NASA seems to be run by robots. They are met by one in Earth orbit which refuses to allow them to communicate with Houston and also has locked the visiting scientists from Herade in the passenger compartment. It assumes the aliens are animals and stops all communication between the two species.
Finally, Mark, Anna, Bill, Chan and Mary are shipped back to Earth, but the reception they receive is totally unexpected and frightening. What has happened to their friends and colleagues while they’ve been away?
Deep Space Visitor – a second adventure in the same volume.
After celebrations to welcome the Heradians, Mark’s team are discussing how much help they need to occupy their original world in the Trappist-1 system. Development work on the spolding drive has meant that an expedition is also being planned to the pristine Earth the team had accidentally stumbled upon on the first main Trappist-1 expedition.
Just when they begin discussing the plan, Anna walks into the office and announces more information on a vague signal being received from deep in the solar system between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus.
What is it, and why does it lead to a spolding expedition to Nu Lupi, almost fifty lightyears from Earth?

I love the series and can't wait for book four!
A quick but emotional read - reading about the cruelty to the dog was heartbreaking but this was a lovely tale of the love and healing that animals can bring to our lives.
I would have given five stars but for the missed typos - a few t...
I get the impression that this could be a nice story but I've had to give up after forcing myself to go as far as 15% of the way through. If this novel has ever been near a remotely professional editor then the author was conned.
Chapte...
Another very enjoyable story but with a few niggles, hence the four stars rather than five. Maybe it's because I was tired but the editing issues grated on me more than in the first story and, do people really generally believe that 'ear...
