Edited last week, the latest in the O’Mara’s (Guesthouse on the Green) series is the perfect feel-good novel for spending an afternoon curled up by the fire and is available for pre-order now.

Christmas at O’Mara’s – Michelle Vernal

Read as a standalone story or, as Book 5 in the Guesthouse on the Green series

Two Christmases, two second chances. A heart-warming and laugh out loud O’Mara family Christmas story.

Roisin O’Mara has already suffered through a pre-Christmas, Christmas in London with her insufferable soon to be ex-mother-in-law and husband. Now with her son, Noah, and an unexpected extra guest in tow she’s arrived in Dublin for her second Christmas. It’s not just her family Roisin’s looking forward to seeing though. She hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Shay, the man she met on her last visit home.

But the timing was wrong. It still is and she’s not sure he’s someone she should let get close. Everybody deserves a second chance at love though, or so her mammy says, but will Roisin miss out on hers?

Cliona Whelan was a woman born before her time. She put her career before love in the days when a woman couldn’t have both and success came at a cost. Then, a Christmas card arrives offering her a second chance, but is it too late?

This year come and spend Christmas with the O’Maras. There’ll be laughter, and tears, a roaring fire to curl up in front of, mulled wine and cake, lots of cake.

Edited yesterday—John likes to keep me on my toes!—the latest in the DCI Harry McNeil series, Back to Life – Amazon UK is available now for pre-order and published on 31st October.

The body of Linda Smith is brought out of the canal and she’s identified as being a police officer.

There’s only one problem; Linda Smith died three months ago.

Why does the victim have Linda’s warrant card on her?

DCI Harry McNeil and his Major Investigations Team are given the task of finding her killer, but the victim had much more to hide. Was she targeted or just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Another victim is killed in the same way. She too has a warrant card on her, and just like the first victim, she isn’t a police officer.

Harry McNeil finds the link between the two women, but by then, he’s already crossed over the line between what’s real and what’s not. And sometimes, there’s no going back…

Edited a couple of months ago, the first novel in the Starship Renegades series is available for pre-order now. This fast-paced series sees Kari and her eclectic crew faced with one obstacle after another in their fight against the Imperium.

Human experimentation, government cover-ups, and a fight for justice.

Kari’s sister died ten years ago. No warning. No funeral. Just a letter with the Imperium crest. But now a list of names has Kari wondering.

What if it was just a lie to stop Kari looking?

Now she must find her sister before the Imperium kill her – for real this time.

Kari will do whatever it takes to save the only family she’s got left. She and her ragtag crew will team up with the rebel cause to fight the Imperium. But plasma pistols and underground connections may not be enough.

If you enjoy grimy space-bars, starship battles, and galactic empires, then you’ll love Starship Renegades: Liberate. Get it now.

The latest book by Tony Harmsworth, the brilliant science fiction writer, is now available for pre-order.  For anyone who thinks sci-fi is not for them, Tony’s novels may well change your mind.

Federation & Earth – is book two in the Federation Trilogy. It is coming soon. Publication date is 2nd November. To secure your copy, pre-order now. Reading Federation first is absolutely essential.

After the dramatic and unexpected turn of events at the end of the first book, Earth is left with several factions trying to resolve the situation. The new president of the USA is trying to secure his hold on power, while a new group who have named themselves FREE AMERICA, is trying to overthrow what it considers an illegitimate regime.

Elsewhere, the new Secretary General of the United Nations is working with the smaller Security Coucil to try to bring the rest of the world together after the events at the end of the book one. Can the aliens be convinced to provide help or are they just going to watch from orbit?

Take a care. You won’t enjoy this story unless you are open to political concepts which could never work on Earth as it is before the trilogy begins i.e. now. If you like speculative fiction, open your mind and enjoy the adventure. This book is like Marmite [look it up], you will either love it or hate it!

A much, much quieter month for me (only 315,000 words) due to many interruptions—a foot operation, a joiner and decorator working on a new porch, and an overseas trip which included a swollen hand from an insect bite!—but I still completed the edits on six, mostly shorter novels.

The first novel was working with an author new to me and was an intriguing drama about personal relationships set in Scotland—details to follow when available.

The sixth in the sci-fi series by Saffron Bryant followed, and then there was a lovely, quirky private eye, mystery novel set in Thailand.

Books seven and eight in the Starship Renegades series were next, with the introductory novella to a new sci-fi series the last completed work to finish the month—again details to follow on publication—before making a start on a historical murder mystery.

My companion for the start of the month was the delightful Dolly, one of my regular visitors.
