A slightly less productive month with a long weekend away—a much needed break!—but a total of five novels and one novella edited (420,000 words) and a very busy August ahead of me.
July began with a Young Adult fantasy novel—details to follow nearer publication, followed by the third in the revenge thriller series by Sharon M Thompson, Ruthless.
Michelle Vernal’s final novel in the lovely O’Mara’s series, Rosi’s Regrets was a very different change of pace, before a cleverly written novel by Louise Broderick—again, details when available.
The first in the new Eva and Dan private investigator series by Solomon Carter came in at a hefty 120,000 words and was another fast-paced page-turner and a great start to what promises to be another exciting series, and the month ended with a sci-fi, fantasy novella, the first instalment in a new series by Saffron Bryant, on which I’ll be working throughout August and September.
Once again, I was able to work in the garden for some of the time—out of the question today as it’s pouring with rain—and the editing work was interspersed with walks with my lovely guest dogs, the slightly crazy Molly and Dexter in the early part of July, and last week, Jett, a beautiful and very affectionate black Labrador.
The fourth book in the wonderful O’Mara’s series that I’ve had the pleasure of editing. The whole series is now available as a box set.
Roisin O’Mara regrets a lot of things.

Another busy and incredibly enjoyable month with a wide range of projects working with both experienced authors and new writers facing the challenges and excitement of completing their first novel.
The month began with another of Tony Harmsworth’s brilliant sci-fi novels, The Visitor and was followed by a young adult fantasy novel by a new author—details to follow when published.
John Carson’s first novel in the new Scott Marshall series Old Habits was next, followed by another young adult fantasy/sci-fi novel by new author Gail Griffiths—the first in a series which will be published soon.
The fabulous Mindslip, a psychologically disturbing science fiction novel, again by Tony Harmsworth was an emotional challenge, and then I completed the third in the new DI Hogarth mystery crime thriller series by Solomon Carter. The Secret Fear series is available now.
A third young adult novel for this month, set in Japan, Hazakura should be published soon—details when available, and then a short non-fiction work by Tony Harmsworth – The Moon Conspiracy Explained, available via the website Tony Harmsworth Website.
May ended with a disturbing memoir by Stephanie Jameson about a woman who survived a physically and emotionally abusive relationship Why Don’t You Just Leave Him? and another thriller involving abuse by Sharon M Thompson, to be published shortly.
Another wonderful and humorous instalment in the Guesthouse on the Green series as Mammy and Moira travel Vietnam.
I love the series and can't wait for book four!
A quick but emotional read - reading about the cruelty to the dog was heartbreaking but this was a lovely tale of the love and healing that animals can bring to our lives.

I get the impression that this could be a nice story but I've had to give up after forcing myself to go as far as 15% of the way through. If this novel has ever been near a remotely professional editor then the author was conned.
