I would like to give a big shout-out to all the Indie authors who are producing such wonderful stories.
There is not much I will give Amazon credit for but the revolution in the publishing industry that has allowed so many new authors to have their work published has been amazing and as a result, many superb stories that would never have seen the light of day are now reaching readers.
Yes, there may be some dross slip through, but the authors with whom I’ve been privileged to work over the last few years are writing fantastic novels in a wide variety of genres.
I’m now lucky enough to be working with some first-time authors as well as those who are more seasoned and the quality of some of the writing and the imaginative storytelling is incredible. Yes, some are better than others, but every single novel I’ve edited has been a pleasure to work on and the talent of the writers, whilst different in each case, is impressive and in many, many cases much better than some ‘best-selling’ authors I’ve read recently.
Many, many thanks to Solomon Carter, John Carson, Michelle Vernal, Sharon M Thompson, Tony Harmsworth, Leopold Borstinski, Bo Brennan, Sean Campbell, Steve Pearse, Graham H Miller, A T Melville and, soon to be published, Hilary Pugh, Gail Griffiths, and Karen Brady. There are many more to follow and I look forward to working with you all throughout the year.
Over many, many years of reading, I would rarely if ever have chosen to read sci-fi but my eyes have been well and truly opened with a couple of books I’ve recently edited for Tony Harmsworth.
I’ve just finished editing the second novel of his that I’ve worked on and it was brilliant. I’ll be sharing links as soon as it’s available!
A very busy and incredibly enjoyable month with such a wide variety of novels in several different versions of English and a wide selection of genres. I’m so lucky to be working with such lovely authors.
The end of February/beginning of March saw me working on the first novel in the new The Secret Fear series featuring DI Hogarth and set in Southend, written by Solomon Carter.
Next up was the twelfth in John Carson’s Di Miller series, Time of Death, followed by Secrets and Vengeful, the first and second novels in Sharon M. Thompson’s Australian revenge thriller series.
I then worked on an – as yet unpublished – autobiographical story of a young boy growing up in South Africa in the days of apartheid followed by Michelle Vernal’s beautiful tale, The Promise, a beautifully written story of romance and relationships across the generations in the Isle of Wight.
A sexually charged tale of life in the high-octane world of finance in the City, a sci-fi novel with a modern-day theme, and the second in the DI Hogarth series by Solomon Carter, The Secret Dawn completed the month.
April is just as busy with a line-up of detective stories, revenge thrillers, romance, sci-fi, and even a non-fiction work to keep me out of mischief.
Many thanks to all the wonderful authors I work with for making my work such a pleasure.
Another wonderful and humorous instalment in the Guesthouse on the Green series as Mammy and Moira travel Vietnam.
I love the series and can't wait for book four!
A quick but emotional read - reading about the cruelty to the dog was heartbreaking but this was a lovely tale of the love and healing that animals can bring to our lives.
I would have given five stars but for the missed typos - a few t...
I get the impression that this could be a nice story but I've had to give up after forcing myself to go as far as 15% of the way through. If this novel has ever been near a remotely professional editor then the author was conned.
Chapte...
Another very enjoyable story but with a few niggles, hence the four stars rather than five. Maybe it's because I was tired but the editing issues grated on me more than in the first story and, do people really generally believe that 'ear...
